1. What is the difference between InstaTemp Max and InstaTemp?
The only difference has to do with the design of the cartridge and dispensing gun. The InstaTemp Max cartridge is the "safety" cartridge, which means that the outlets for the base and catalyst are separated. This is a huge benefit because it prevents the base and catalyst from cross contaminating. Since the two components can't mix, they can't set up and cause a blockage.
Another benefit from this design change is that the cartridge is larger in size. InstaTemp Max has 76g of material in each cartridge, compared to 65g for InstaTemp. This means that you get 20% more material for your money!!

2. Can the InstaTemp dispensing guns and mixing tips work with InstaTemp Max?
No! Because the two cartridges are shaped differently, the dispensing guns are also different. In addition, the old InstaTemp guns and mixing tips will not work with the Max cartridges and vice versa.

3. Is the slide removable in the InstaTemp Max dispensing gun?
No. The slides in the safety guns are not removable so you must have a 4:1 ratio gun to use InstaTemp Max. The cartridges will not work if the slide is a different size/ratio.

4. What is the setting/working time of the self-cure material?
Rubbery phase: 2:00-3:00 minutes
Remove from mouth: 3:00 minutes
End of cure: 7:00 minutes
Do not use bench times to judge setting time in the mouth. There are differences in temperature and humidity, which affect setting times!

5. Can other materials be used for the PTT technique besides InstaTemp Max (such as
for incisal shading)?
Sterngold InstaTemp Max and Composite LC shades are recommended for the technique, but you can use any shade, type, and brand of composite as well.

6. What is the "sticky" oxygen inhibited layer on the temporary?
There is a very thin layer of uncured resin that must be removed with alcohol before finishing and polishing or applying SternVantage® Varnish. This layer always forms on composite material because of the presence of oxygen in the air.

7. How many units can be made from one cartridge of InstaTemp Max?
On average, you can get approximately 50 units from a cartridge.

8. Can reinforcement be used to strengthen long-span temporaries?
Reinforced fiber materials, such as Construct from KerrLab, can be placed in the middle of the provisional for increased strength.

9. Is InstaTemp Max Radio-opaque?
Yes, InstaTemp Max has added Barium Glass as a filler which adds not only to it’s strength but also makes it Radio-opaque.
